Doctrinal Statement of Victory Baptist Church

The Bible

We believe the Old and New testament to be the verbally and plenary inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith, life, and church establishment, preserved inerrant in the King James Version for the English speaking world. (II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20; Psalm 12:6-7).

Godhead

We believe in the one triune God, eternally existing in three persons, the Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Gen. 1: 1; Deut. 6:4; Matt. 28:19; John 10:30; Acts 5:3-4; II Cor. 13:14)

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, was born of the virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Isaiah 7:14; Matt. 1:18-25; Gal. 4:4; Col. 2:9; Heb. 4:14-17).

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a divine person equal with the Father and the Son. He convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment. He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the Body of Christ, and indwells and seals them unto the day of redemption (John 16:8-11; Rom. 8:9; I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 3:6; Eph. 1:13-14; Matt. 28:19; I Peter 1:2)

Creation

We believe in the direct and instant creation that was completed in 6 literal 24-hours days by God. We do not believe in the process of evolution. (Gen. 1:1ff; John 1:3; Heb. 11:3).

Satan

We believe Satan is literal and personal, that he was the agent of the fall, that he is the prince of the world and has been judged. (Isa. 14:14-21; John 16:11; Eph. 2:1-4; Rev. 20:10).

Mankind

We believe man was created in the image of God, that he sinned incurring physical and spiritual death, that he is born with a sinful nature and is under the condemnation of God (Gen. 1:26-27; 2:17: Psm. 58:3; Rom. 1:20; 5:12-21; I Cor. 2:14)

Atonement

We believe that the atonement for sin was made by all by the vicarious death of our Lord Jesus Christ. This payment for death is available to all men (II Peter 3:9; I Jn. 2:2; Jn. 3:16; I Cor. 15:1-4). Individual Soul liberty: We believe in the individual soul liberty of each man and his responsibility to choose to receive or reject Jesus Christ for salvation (Rev. 22:17).

Salvation

We believe God provided eternal salvation for all men through Christ’s shed blood on the cross (Jn. 14:6; Acts 4:12; Heb. 9:26; I Peter 1:18-19) and that salvation is an individual choice appropriated by faith (Jn. 1:12; 3:16; I Tim. 4:10; I Peter 2:7).

Eternal Security

We believe that those who received Jesus Christ as Savior are eternally saved (John 3:8; Gal. 3:24-26; I John 5:13; John 3:16; John 6:37-40).

Second Coming

We believe in the pretribulational, premillennial, and imminnent return of Jesus Christ and rapture of the Church Age saints (Matt. 24:44; John 14:1-3; I Cor. 15:51-57; I Thess. 4:13-18).

Heaven and Hell

We believe in a literal heaven for all who are saved through Christ’s shed blood and a literal hell for those who reject him as their Savior (Jn. 14:1-6; Rev. 20:11-15)

Local Church

We believe it is a body of immersed believers, assembled for worship, service, and to spread the gospel to all the world (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 1:8; II Cor. 5:11-19) and are to perform the two ordinances of Baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper (Matt. 28:19-20; Acts 2:38; I Cor. 11:23-32)

Missions

We believe that God has given the great commission to the church to proclaim the Gospel to all nations, tribes, ethnic groups, an languages (Matt. 28:19-20; Mk. 16:15; Acts 1:8; II Cor. 5:20)
